England, 1871

It's the age of the Great Explorer, and a scientific expedition is about to set sail for a mysterious, newly-discovered island in the South Atlantic.

Professor Twickham is invited to lead this dangerous endeavour, but barely has a chance to consider the offer before a rival is chosen instead.

Roberta is determined her father be restored to his rightful place at the head of the expedition... not least because she's eager to accompany him.

As for myself, it appears my dreams of a joyous wedding and even more pleasant honeymoon are to be dashed, at least for the time being. For how could I allow my beloved and my future father-in-law to embark on such a perilous voyage without me?

As it turns out, getting to the island is one thing.

Returning again could be quite another...
